Fractional Resurfacing for Dramatically Younger Skin

The Pixel laser treatment is a procedure and does require some down-time. Two days after Judi’s second Pixel laser treatment, her skin is still red. However, after five days, she says the red is usually completely gone.

One of the important treatments that Judi is receiving is Fractional Resurfacing performed with a machine called Pixel.  We want to give you more information on this revolutionary treatment. Be sure to follow us on Instagram for all the behind-the-scene transition videos.

Fractional resurfacing is a laser treatment.  It works by creating thousands of microscopic perforations in the skin. These microchannels are only as deep as a few sheets of paper but they cause micro-injury deeper in the skin than is seen with most cosmetic medical treatments.  The skin is affected all the way down to the deep layers.

Your skin reacts to this injury by initiating a healing process.  The healing process causes collagen to regrow and remodel.  It also helps strip away the top most layer of the skin (the epidermis).  The new collagen tightens the skin so it sags less.  Additionally, a whole new layer of more youthful skin is laid down.  This combined effect leads to truly dramatic effects that are hard to achieve with any other non-surgical technique.

Fractional resurfacing improves your skin’s texture and tone to fight fine lines, wrinkles, and even acne scars. It has the following effects:

  • Clears sun-damaged skin
  • Smooths fine lines and wrinkles
  • Shrinks the appearance of pores
  • Fills in acne scars
  • Blends uneven pigmentation

Pixel is a deep treatment, deeper than most.  So, it can be more uncomfortable than many of the other treatments at Vivesse.  We use numbing cream prior to the procedure and it is tolerable for almost all patients.  After the treatment, your skin will probably appear red as if you had a sunburn.

There is no downtime that is necessary after the treatment but some clients like to take a few days off from work because of the redness and peeling.  That’s why it’s a good treatment to have at the end of the week so these few days will include the weekend when most people don’t work.
